Xorg fails with Compaq Armada 1750

Hello,

After exhausting all attempts to generate xorg, I need some help:

- Problem with Screen ATI MACH64LP

- Black screen was the best achieved

- After doing startx, ctrl alt Bksp, I can see message "openbox failed to open the display from the display environment variable"

- With Lubuntu 10, works well.

Any clue will be welcomed.

At boot menu edit and add this

vga=791 lang=en_US kmap=us autologin

think vga might be set to autow as standard

you allso might have to add nomodeset after autologin if it fails

Nothing changed...

I'm attaching the logs of the initial setup, using a 4.0 CD iso and sellecting Live option.

The process ends at Login text mode.

Login as root and startx.

Stops with the message related with screen problems.

Meanwhile, the msg is, during the xorg process.

Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

and after

Fatal server error:

[   102.327] no screens found

using vesa driver.

Problem solved

Using tazx, Org, Driver mach64.

Xorg -configure --> cp /root/xorg.conf.new to /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Xorg -config /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Result: Screen clear and hungs.

CTRL + ALT + BKSP brings text mode

Exit

Login again

Startx

GUI ok.

Aditional note:

After CTRL + BKSP * BKSP and EXIT

LOGIN as TUX. (Login as root doesn't work !!!!)

Startx brings the Slitaz screen.

After this, Install on HD.

After installation, we have to repeat all the procedures.
