Frugal Installation

I'm trying out the newest cooking version. The live CD works, but I'm trying to make a frugal installation. Using GRUB 1, here is the entry I'm trying to use:

root (hd0,0)

kernel /slitaz/boot/vmlinuz [I renamed this file for convenience] root=/dev/hda1 ro

initrd /slitaz/boot/bzImage

The boot begins, but then I get a kernel panic with a note to try an init= argument for the kernel.

Please help me. I have tried every init= I can think of.

perhaps you don't have enough RAM or try partition type rw instead ro

I am not a frugal expert, but looking at your menu.lst it looks completely different from the one found in the doc.

Would you mind testing the menu.lst described here:

totoetsasoer: It worked perfectly, though the path to the kernel as I have it is in a folder "slitaz." I don't understand the command "root=/dev/null," but I don't have to understand it for it to work. Thank you for the good advice and the quick response.

Now I'm set to explore Slitaz.
