Option GTM382 (module hso)

I installed the package linux-dialup (which includes the module hso). However it does not seem to create any ttyUSBX as it should. The card has been tested in different distros and works fine.

Any suggestions to what I should try?

Don't use Cooking. Use Stable instead. The modprobe module placement in Cooking is broken.

Also that's an Option 3G/GPRS/UTMS/EDGE modem? Rather use sakis3g to connect with it: http://forum.slitaz.org/topic/read-this-if-you-use-a-3g-modem-to-connect#post-9191

I distinctly remember a driver being added for it. Mostly because the company's name is so weird.

I need to run the 3.X kernel to get my graphics card working correctly. Is there any simple way to upgrade stable to the latest kernel?

Not really. You can wait for them to fix everything that's wrong with cooking, but it may take a while. But try sakis3g, maybe it works and switches your modem correctly.
