Installation in VMware

Hello All,

I heard about this distro from a friend of mine and was really eager to try this distro.

After downloading the distro, i tried it in VMware.

The OS is great!!!!!!!!!

When I try to install the OS in my VMware, it is not detecting the Harddisc...

both in gparted and fdisk. can you let us know how can i make the harddisc detect and install SliTaz.

Also I would like to know when SliTaz will be available with kernel 3.0 and above so that i can install SliTaz on my laptop directly..

Fixed the Vmware issue by seeing this following post.

But when installing the os, how to disable the prompt for the second user other than root.

And to answer your earlier question: Yes, SliTaz 5 will be using Linux 3 and up. In fact the current cooking is using Linux 3, but it's not very stable at the moment and there are still lots of bugs to be fixed regarding it.

I am telling about the second user which need to be created at the time of installation

Can i some how disable this at the time of installation? Please see the attachment.

At the moment this can't be disabled and is an expected behavior for a Linux System. Only Linux distro that ignores this is Puppy Linux to my knowledge. Others just make it more transparent by making the root and user passwords the same.

I am the only user of the system and i dont want any other user other than root.

Also since there is no userdel command, i am unable to delete the user.

I have downloaded the package-4.0.iso.

Let me check if i can install some application and delete the user.

Also please let me know whether i can update about my SliTaz 5.0 review to improve the OS

You'll find that a large number of application will warn you that you're running as root, but I believe the command you're looking for is [c]deluser[/c]

thanks for the help with the command.

Also the cooking version is pointing to an older image the text is as below

SliTaz GNU/Linux Cooking 20120410 (35 Mb)  but it point to an image created on

slitaz-cooking.iso 2011-May-31 00:29:53 30.0M application/octet-stream

can someone please check this and please provide me a link for the cooking version with

kernel 3.0 and above
