How to stop the Hunger of Firefox?

FF very often crashes down

once an hour

with difficult pages.

Sometimes mouse is frozen and I have to boot again.

Is there a possibility with Linux

to stop hunger for ram ?

Sometimes even Strg f1 is not possible.

Thank You in forward.

They told me because ff is asking many space in ram.

What does the mistake means: Segmentation failed?

I am starting FF in Terminal.

I am newbie Linux.

Browser starting.

Fine.

Then I can see

browser opening some tasks and in the background there are some tasks

videos pr

and 2 GB are running with one page in a browser.

question:

can I start firefox in terminal with  conditions

like

firefox limit space limit priority limit space using limit downloads.

Not really. You need to reduce it's memory usage in about:config - The above guide is one of the guides I used to reduce Firefox's load time and memory usage.

The downside with Flash or Java for example is that they get managed externally (as in outside of Firefox), which can use extra resources per page they're on.

Type [c]about:config[/c] in the address bar (where you type the website's address). It should give you a warning. Then use the tips at http://blog.codefront.net/2008/09/10/optimize-firefoxs-memory-usage-by-tweaking-session-preferences/ to configure Firefox.

I have had problems with firefox,

but it never used 2GB for a single page, so far

I'd like to point out that I loaded E-17 & google chrome on slitaz & with chrome running only about 75mb of ram was being used according to the system app.

It seems firefox is using an extraordinary amount of resources.

It works here with Seamonkey suite ( similar to firefox / mozilla suite, more light, that i discover in the SliTaz topics !, thank's again :-)
