Root password, keyboard

I installed slitaz to my hard drive & chose my usual login & root passwords. The install confirmed it was changing my passwords.

I cannot use the taz panel as it will not recognize my username & password.

Iṽe tried root,root - tux,root as well but nothing works.

Keyboard - I have a standard UK qwerty keyboard but that option does not work. I had to set to US keyboard which is better. but still some keys dont work. The @ for instance is not in the right place. Iṽe never had this issue before in other distros.

Any help much appreciated.
