Hello everybody - first I have to say that I'm in contact with LINUX since 4 weeks as a user and with SliTaz since 10 days... It's absolutely super! Love it! I installed it on several Computers (Desktop / Laptop / ThinClient on a CF) managed to implement a network printer deleted and added packages... but now I do have a problem:
My main computer is a Fujitsu Siemens with an
CPU Typ DualCore Intel Pentium E2160, 1800 MHz (9 x 200)
Motherboard Name FUJITSU SIEMENS D2317-A2
Moherboard Chipsatz Intel Broadwater Q965
and
Grafikkarte NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE (128 MB)
and 2 Monitors (which I absolutely need for special purposes and not for fun...)
I would like to install SliTaz 4.0 on this system as 2nd OS. Therefore I tried to boot with SliTaz 4.0 stable CD:
"Live" ends up with stripes on the screen
"core Live" the same
"gtkonly Live" the same or blinking keyboard and a halt
"justx Live" works fine with a screen resolution of 1280 x 1024 on both screens
I would very much like to use the graphical installer and gparted for the hard disk installation (not included in justx) and in any case don't won't to end up with an installed system that does not boot properly...
after I read a lot of posts I tried to preselect language / keyboard / vga - nothing helps
I downloaded a stable SliTaz 3.0 Live CD and voila it booted without any problems...
Any advises for an old LINUX-SliTaz-Newbie pls? Maybe "the" post I overlooked?

Do you see the keyboard and language configuration dialogs at boot?

Hello again - so, sorry to say but I have to correct myself... "gtkonly" and "justx" are both working fine and I get a screen resolution of 1280 x 1024 in both cases.
@Trixar - with "SliTaz live" and "SliTaz core live" the booting stops with green stripes after the 3 times "Sending disk over..." - so I don't see the kb and lang config dialogs.

Taking a shower in the morning helps the brain... To mention "SliTaz live" was not so helpful... It's only the menu item for the auto select between the flavours... So with 4 GB RAM he will always chose "core"... The remaining question seems to be what is in "core" what is not in "gtkonly" and "justx".
Another point - when having started "gtkonly" last night I had access to the "Hardware detection and drivers" and tried that. Chosing "Nvidia" in the Tazhw box he installed a lot of packages (free and non free) and in the end told me I don't have a "Nvidia" - surprise... but maybe interesting.

Hello again - still having my problem - someone able to give an advise / hint...

Pick the Command Line option from the boot menu and type:
core kmap=us lang=en_US
And see if it boots all the way through. If it does then this is just the old double x-start bug, although the green line on the screen variation seems to happen with newer ATI and Nvidia cards from what I can tell on this forum.

Sorry to say - tried it and still getting the green lines. Tried it as well with the german lang and kmap and boot stopped after the first "Sending disk over ..." with black screen and blinking keyboard leds. Interesting difference: all output messages on the left side. When trying it with us lang/kmap and without the messages start to go to the right side (like if you are using the TAB key). Nevertheless will stop for today and will have to move/change my workingplace tomorrow or Saturday in any case. So I will try 2 steps - 1 remove the display driver card and try it with the onboard video (assume it will work...) and 2 - will try it with 2 MATROX double screen cards I still have (hope the slots will fit...). Thanks in any case for the new hint and I'm still interested in further ones... By the way excuse my not so perfect English.

I had the same problem. What I did is install 3.0 and then go into pkg manager
and on top to the far right click configuration and down below you will see the url were it gets it;s update. Change the 3.0 at the end of the url to 4.0. Then click on upgrade all.
It worked for me....

How I got 4.0 to boot is I clicked on languages first. Then choosed Keymap and lang.
