SliTaz on Macbook Pro?

Hello!

I'm a big fan of SliTaz, but I haven't used it since I got a Macbook Pro (2009 model)

I would like to use SliTaz in LIVE mode on my macbook. Is it posisble? I mean, does SliTaz support Macbook hardware?

Thank you all !

Yes, should work with macbook pro, but you will need a different bootloader that supports EFI bios, like grub2, and you will have to manually configure it.

Re: SliTaz on Macbook Pro?

I would recommend first trying to booting SliTaz with a LiveCD or LiveUSB. It's the easiest way to see if it will work or not. If it doesn't even boot the LiveCD, then it's likely that it might not run all that well installed. I know for a fact that the mount command and the HFS file system aren't on speaking terms.

Re: SliTaz on Macbook Pro?

Thnx for the replies. Actually, I wasn't planning to install it permanently on the macboook. I just need it for use in the LIVE mode. The reason I decided to ask here in the forums is because I don't want my macbook hardware to somehow be damaged by Slitaz possible incompatibility. i.e. I don't want my GPU or battery to get screwed up, so I just wanted to make sure I"m safe when booting SliTaz live on Apple hardware..

I know it may sound stupid, but I always like to be on the safe side smile

Re: SliTaz on Macbook Pro?

It should not harm your computer, but you never know. I've had a mac heat up too much running OSX, so I won't give you a warranty. Slitaz should run fine on an intel mac, as long as you use a bootloader that supports EFI you can boot from hdd, or usb or cd or whatever your mac has to boot from. Let us know what happens. At some point I'll boot it on my macbook pro, but I use it too much right now to play with it.

Re: SliTaz on Macbook Pro?

hey i thought i'd give some input on this front.

I have an Intel MacBook (late 2007) that triple-boots using rEFIt and it brings up my Firefox LiveCD as a 4th option on boot no problem.

I go to boot it and everything looks good and instead of going to the desktop, I get a login prompt.

I'll create a separate support thread (if needed) so as not to hijack this one - just want to let ya know it looks promising so far smile

Re: SliTaz on Macbook Pro?

chinarut, can you post how you managed to triple-boot the MacBook using rEFIt?
