i HAVE a old Dell pentium 111 and when I go to boot it says

My hdd for some reason says it's a hdc1 mmmm?

But I have it set up as ext3 And when I install it I use

/dev/hdc1 and it installs. But it will not boot in to the desk top.

It has a error:

root (hd2,0)

error selected disk does not exits. I tried the live slitaz to try

to run /boot/grub/menu.lst but there is nothing in there. So How

can I fix this problem?

Re: i HAVE a old Dell pentium 111 and when I go to boot it says

If live support is key on usb this is counted as a unit of the pc after installation is removed and then the grub fails.

at the grub screen press "e" and edit the two lines of decreasing launch of a value, press enter and press "b" to boot.

if it is right to start at the end repeat the edit the menu.lst to finalize the change.

you have two more parameters to be changed in check fs

/ etc / fstab file rcs.conf and fix the swap

Re: i HAVE a old Dell pentium 111 and when I go to boot it says

I installed it by way of livecd.

I press e on (hd2,0) to change it to (hd0,0) but how to save it to make it stay that way. It always goes back to (hd2,0).

I tried all options on the login grub window. I even tried this here:
