Hi,

Okay,
my english is probably not the best but i will try it.
Whenever I boot Slitaz on my machine it works fine until it would ask for the language and keyboard settings. Then my screen disables itself and says "Signal Error". I guess the resolution is too high for my rather old screen. It is not one of that flat-screens it is one of those old big ones, don't know how they are called in english. its native resolution is 1024x768.
using vga=xxx(with the number for 1024x768 of course) only made the boot messages easier to read, as they were shown in this resolution. But when the system asked for language setting the screen gives up again.
When I switch to the first Terminal (Ctrl+alt+F1) I can see my boot messages again staying at "Starting Tazbox configuration...". killing it with ctrl+c brings me to login with american or whatever default keyboard layout.
switching to the terminal where the graphics should be kills my screen again.
The screen itself works fine on windows.
And on my Laptop Slitaz works fine.
I hope that was possible to understand...
Greetings

Perfect English
But I still have no clue of what the problem is, is it when the graphics starts or does it work for a while and then at a certain point goes down?
Perhaps there's something odd with the graphics card driver? Use lspci and find out what graphics card you use, and perhaps you should try a different monitor?
(The fat monitors are called CRT but just use old big ones as more people would understand that
)

thanks for trying to understand it
Normal booting of slitaz liveCD as experienced on my laptop:
1. selecting the boot options in the bootmenu (slitaz live, slitaz core, etc.)
2. a lot of booting blabla (found usb hub, and some kind of bridges, etc.)
3. a little box on a black background asking you to choose the language for the system.
4. similar box asking for keyboard layout
5. nice orange slitaz desktop
on my other computer, the one with the CRT monitor:
point 1: no problem
point 2: no problem until point 3 would start.
there is no box asking for language settings, there is a monitor error message("signal error").
at this point switching to terminal 1, the one where the boot messages are, reactivate the monitor. I can see my bootmessages now, with the last line saying "Starting Tazbox configuration...". I guess "tazbox configuration" is the language and keyboard settings.
killing this by using ctrl+c(i was surprised that it worked at this time) gives me the ability to login on the console. i will try to run lspci at this point but i will do that tomorrow *sleep*.
maybe another monitor would do the trick, but i want to use slitaz as a portable OS for my pocket. So when i am somewhere else i can boot slitaz and have my vital programs and other stuff available. That is why i want it to run on (almost) every machine, so a CRT Monitor should work too. I mean there are so much possible problems one can encouter with hardware and different distros. But it fails because of the old monitor? in detail it fails because of a wrong resolution? that should be possible to solve, shouldn't it?
or maybe i am wrong and the problem is somewhere else. . .
But I think it is more clear now.

Sounds like graphics card or setting problems... Try running # tazx It'll let you set the graphics through a terminal window.
