Google Earth installation problem

Hello,

I run:

tazpkg get-install google-earth

during the installation process I got this warning message:

"This version of Google Earth requires LSB 4.0 support which you do not seem to have".

and now if I execute the binary I get the error:

/usr/sbin/googleearth: exec: line 19: ./googleearth-bin: not found

Is slitaz really not compliant with the Linux Standard Base 4.0?

Is there a workaround? I could not find any lsb-core package or similar to install...

Did someone manage to install Google Earth?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Google Earth installation problem

I second the motion by hpenedones. When I click on the Applications menu and then go to "internet" and "google earth" in the list, I get nothing. What is the problem?

Re: Google Earth installation problem

Hi,

While I was trying to install Google Earth 6 I had the same problem. I saw it tried to install redhat-lsb using the command "yum install redhdat-lsb" automatically. So I decided to install redhat-lsb manually by downloading the RPMs, converting them to .tazpkg and installing, but had no success, GE6 seemed not to recognize redhat-lsb even if it was instaled. Somewhere I read redhat-lsb-debuginfo redhat-lsb-graphics redhat-lsb-printing were neccessary, I repeated the proccess without success again.

So I realized that installing GE6 on Slitaz nowadays seems to be impossible, maybe I'm wrong. Anyway what I did is install GE5, which actually works on Slitaz. I found GE5 over the net, in a megaupload link, and downloaded it. I have it saved in case is deleted. Installing GE5 gave me some work too. First I received a message saying:

"I/O error : No such file or directory

setup.data/setup.xml:1: parser error : Document is empty

^

setup.data/setup.xml:1: parser error : Start tag expected, '<' not found"

The solution to that problem can be found here: https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/google-earth-install-830981/

Once the installation is completed, GE ran but I couldn't read the menus due to a fonts problem. The fonts problem can be solved with this: https://www.google.com/support/forum/p/earth/thread?tid=656ef9a98bc427dd&hl=en

After all now I have Google Earth working on Slitaz, a bit slowly, but Im looking how to solve it.

Sorry for my bad english, I hope this have been helpfull!
