Resolution and battery problem

I have installed SliTaz on old Toshiba 4090xcdt laptop. The problem is that I need resolution 1024x768x16, but it forces me at 800x600. I have added Modeline and Modes but no changes. Second problem is that there is no battery icon in the tray. I'm using cooking version 3.0.
