Slitaz Shutdown / Wakeup Timer?

Hello there

I´ve already postet this Question at the German Forum, but there´s no reply.

My Problem?:  We have a Igel 464 LX Winestra Thin Client and it works as a "Webradio".

I have installed Win2K Prof and it plays the Webstreams with Winamp.

I got the Program "PC Zeitschaltuhr" from Data Becker also known as Lifsoft´s Auto Poweron and Shutdown Timer. We used the Program to start the Client at 7.00 A.M. , set Hibernate at 1 o´clock P.M. Then it restarted at 3 P.M. and Shutted down at 8 P.M.

It worked fine for about half a year.

Now we wanted to change from Windows up to Linux.

So we installed Slitaz, configured MPD and GMPC an everything works fine!

Now i was wondering if there is a simple program to shutdown and restart the machine 2 times a day (2x Hibernate, 2x Restart). ACPI?

However perhaps anyone could help me.

Sorry for my bad english, but my last lesson is about twelve years ago....

Hi, maybe you should take a look at the command "shutdown" and the cron tab to help you restart your computer, but I don't know how to hibernate computer

I thought about a little program with a simple GUI like Ubuntu´s Auto Timer Shutdown. Sorry I´m a Linux Noob.

I don't know if there is a GUI for this but you'll learn command line if you search

Are you refering to some kind of hybrid suspension when you talk about hibernation?

When you hibernate (true hibernation) a Linux box, it is, to any effects, turned off. The only difference is that RAM pages and all running stuff is written to disk in a special location, that will be reloaded when the computer is turned on again. Ignoring this fact, and hibernating machines is as alive as a turned off one. It won't be able to realize of the need to go on again. May you correct me if I am mistaken.

The shutdown and pm-suspend commands can be used with a cron job to turn off the unit in a timely manner, but I don't think Linux allows automatic awaking.

Forget what I said.

Use rtcwake (it is a standard tool)
