Xedit editor - xorg

Hello

just a little question, i search the editor Xedit

i think it depend of Xorg, but i don't found in the deposery.

xedit is a text editor for the X Window System.

i have found here:

http://xorg.freedesktop.org/releases/individual/app/

it is ok..but not in slitaz..( in fact exist a lot of Xorg .* packages..

probably i have not search correct.

it is a very interesting editor because in the .Xdefaults (in home) U can specify a lot of thing

( color background cursor etc....) like for an Xterm xclock etc...

here: foto + explication)

http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/~pjh/prolog_course/using_swi/editors_xedit.html

in first ..no very "sexy" but a good xdefaults... wink and very light and powerfull wink

really u think i like it? wink

of course so...

if people know where i can founf it

a Big Thanks

but what package Xorg, that was my problem smile

best to say in french:

je pensais que Xedit etait integré a Xorg, c est pourquoi je me suis dis que pourquoi pas, il devait se trouver dans un des paquets des depots...mais si oui...dans quels archives?

Re: Xedit editor - xorg

what i can answer?

in first: Yesss..yessssss yessssssss!!!!!!

( i know i am sensibil !!!:)

Re: Xedit editor - xorg

Snapfly is off-topic, but it seems a nice piece of software. Haven't tried myself, but it seems it works like the fluxbox menu.

About the Xedit package not working on 3.0, it's normal, since the 3.0 and cooking software versions may differ. But, if you really need to run it on the current stable release, you can use the Xedit receipt and cook it on your 3.0 environment.

Re: Xedit editor - xorg

Cooked on slitaz-3.0 : http://www.mediafire.com/file/dtzh424r681ok48/xorg-xedit-1.2.0_stable-3.0.tazpkg

Add xfree86-base-fonts to DEPENDS , thanks Claudinei

Receipts written for cookutils may not be backward compatible to tazwok on stable:

Tazwok in slitaz-3.0 doesn't understand make DESTDIR=$DESTDIR in a receipt that works with cookutils in cooking.

Edit receipt and change to make DESTDIR=$PWD/_pkg install

Related problems with displaying fonts in stable:

xorg-xfontsel runs in cooking, will not start on stable with same error as xorg-xedit.

google-earth:

Stable- no display of text in menus or on top of graphics. Solid black line appears where text should be.

Cooking- text is displayed in menus, rectangles appear instead of text on top of graphics.

Re: Xedit editor - xorg

Hi @mojo,

I'm running xedit here on 3.0 installed with the package you've made. I've got the problems you related, but solved installing some packages and restarting Xorg. I guess the package that solved that was xfree86-base-fonts. I also installed xorg-xfontsel.

Could you reproduce it, installing both packages and restarting Xorg? If it works, those packages should be on the xedit receipt for 3.0 as DEPENDS.

Re: Xedit editor - xorg

Hi @Claudenei Pereira

xorg-xedit-1.2.0_stable-3.0.tazpkg : recooked with xfree86-base-fonts added to DEPENDS fixed

http://www.mediafire.com/file/dtzh424r681ok48/xorg-xedit-1.2.0_stable-3.0.tazpkg

xorg-xfontsel-1.0.2.tazpkg : needs commit in wok-stable adding xfree86-base-fonts to it's DEPENDS

On a clean boot of stable livecd, it won't start without installing xfree86-base-fonts.

I had to logout/in of xsession restarting xserver before it would pickup the installation of base fonts and xedit or xfontsel would start.

Thanks for your help.
