Has anyone installed Micropolis in Slitaz yet?

Does anyone have any experience or been successful with installing Micropolis (classic simcity) under slitaz? the internet has plenty of instructions for an ubuntu install but I havent found a single posting for micropolis in Slitaz. I have tried myself but been unsuccessful.

Here is a link to the repositories.

Re: Has anyone installed Micropolis in Slitaz yet?

Tried it myself (the precompiled version) and it kept getting stuck at the start screen. Also the resolution is wrong (it's way too big for my 1024x768 screen) and clicking on the buttons doesn't do anything. It also keeps showing the panel, but forcefully stays on top of any other window. Doesn't show anything in the terminal as being wrong when I run it from there either.

This is really mind boggling to say the least hmm

The startup resolution is a known bug I believe. And I think there is a patch for that bug, I know there are a couple patches out there now.

Where/which precompiled package have you tried?

Re: Has anyone installed Micropolis in Slitaz yet?

I used micropolis-activity.tgz from the site above.

EDIT: Alright, I tried the debian version and it runs. The start screen is still way too big, but atleast you can move the window around. Once in the game, the window is the right size though. Here is the converted SliTaz package for it: http://www.trixarian.za.net/downloads/micropolis.tazpkg

Great! I will give it a try today! Thanks!

Just curious? Did you run "convert" on the .deb?

Re: Has anyone installed Micropolis in Slitaz yet?

Yes, I ran tazpkg convert on the micropolis and micropolis-data packages. I also merged them into one package and cleaned out the stuff slitaz doesn't/can't use. I find it easier just to do it that way. Not so sure if I got all the required packages right though, so you'll have to tell me if it doesn't work.

Installed perfectly fine, so I think you got the required packages right. Yes the initial startup screen resoution is wrong.. I will do some searching and see if anyone has this solved yet. Thanks again!

Install tcl and tk. They've been removed as one of python dependencies, so to make programs that uses tk (like micropolis and Pysol) work, you'll need to install both packages yourself.
