When I right click on slitaz desktop, I see three TazUSB writefs option on slitaz live. If I choose one of that option, what will happen with my live USB ?

TazUSB writefs allows you to create a new rootfs.gz including the packages you've downloads and it saves the previous rootfs.gz.
You can choose between 3 formats to compress the file

Hi Ivan530,
If you was read link above:
"/home" is mounted on boot using the UUID of your particular flash drive.
So if you're set up your USB flash as /home and writefs after creating an users then your users will be permanent.

I was trying in my live USB but it doesn't save anything. I was doing like this :
- Right click
- slitaz live > TazUSB writefs (none)
- write yes on every question in terminal
- finished and reboot, nothing saved ?
please help me.

I didn't find that on my live USB. I use unetbootin and slitaz 4.0 core ISO.

menu.lst is in /boot/grub. But unetbootin use syslinux and not grub. So you don't have a menu.lst file but a /boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg
unetbootin use USB keys formated FAT16 ; with this format you don't have any persistence.
Create a new LiveUSB from your actual Live :
download the iso file of SliTaz
open a terminal and become root
identify your new USB key (# fdisk -l)
format it (# tazusb format) and then follow instructions
create your Live (Applications > System tools > Create Live USB)
In this way you'll have persistence

I used unetbootin as well not having any windows - mostly ubuntu or puppy I really like slitaz

Wasn't even thinking about that! it worked ..well it does boot much nicer.
Still has No Persistence there is No menu.lst entry as thats 3.0
nothing I did to syslinux.cfg saved anything the above links didnt work nothing.
Used core iso 3 times tried everything I understood till breaking it/ but learned some neat things too though! I tried the firefox iso twice it wont boot for me at all?
Is it poss. unetbootin messed it up or the iso somehow corrupt because of it?
Maybe the machine? usb? or could have to install to other computer to make what I want for this one (dell mini 9 with dead drive) Then again if I still get no where........
GOT everything I wanted to work several times but I CANT TURN IT OFF
HELP # I'm getting confused reading too many posts AND maybe a bit between 3.0 and 4.0 !

This is the one thing slitaz needs to put some work into All I want is to know how to save it one darn time! otherwise Id say its perfect for me.

What type of format did you choose when you format your USB stick ?
If you've selected ext3, the config file is not syslinux.cfg but extlinux.conf
Post the content of /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf
