Re: I3 WM in slitaz

Well, you could try compiling it yourself OR converting over the debian package found @ http://packages.debian.org/sid/i3-wm using the tazpkg convert command.

Slim Display Manager:
~/.xinitrc   Add an entry for i3 with exec i3
startx:
                ~/.xsession  Replace exec openbox-session with exec i3

Re: I3 WM in slitaz

i want to try i3 but cant start it. i tried it with the deb-file,converting,installing and with the i3-tazpkg file from the cooking packages but it wont start and why is the converted deb-file bigger than the one from cooking?

first i added exec i3 in /home/tux/.xinitrc but it wasnt availeble with F1

so i added 'i3' in the sessions-line in /etc/slim.conf

now i have the choice to select i3 with F1 but it doesnt work. just login failure

i want to have openbox as standard login and only the choice to choose i3 so i dont change anything in /home/tux/.xsession-----and ive 'exec $WINDOW_MANAGER' standing but in /home/tux/.config/slitaz/applications.conf is 'exec openbox-session' standing. am i right that this configuration is to set the standard window manager?

so where im wrong and is it better to take the converted deb-file or the cooking-file?

by the way: very much thanks to the iniciator, all makers and helpers of slitaz.

i really love the efficiency. i like productivity in an computer system that i can work with so go on....
