Boot options for Cooking 20121014
300b75a80f40b2af2428a41fa81008d9 slitaz-rolling.iso
[c]sound=noconf nomodeset screen=text[/c]
Login as root then start X: slim or /etc/init.d/slim start
Tested on 4 computers and virtualbox,it still configures the sound
Run an upgrade:
Recook alsaplayer, viewnior, etc to link to newer libs.
wpa_supplicant added missing depends libnl
Manually start dbus then hald to use gparted
Midori crash's on right click of slitaz home page search box.
Pcmanfm doesn't show attached drives as icons that can be clicked to mount.

Same punition, here (stuck 5% looking for sound card)
Did "tab" then added sound=noconf nomodeset screen=text
Is that what you meant ?
Additionnally slitaz complains "cannot open locale definition file 'C': No such file or directory"
Tried to change to French, same punition

ok i tracked it down
If i boot directly, then i reach a black screen; ctrl+alt+del i get the login prompt, log as root slim, it works ! with US keyboard of course (and i had to ctrl+alt+del)
If however i first select fr lang (or even, us lang ie C locale) then I hit the sound card looking screen stuck at 5% + error message for locale + freeze

I try all this from a virtualbox machine
this being said, trying to install to the (virtual) hd will not work
gparted does not start, complains hald not running or not ready

good point. (<ashamed>)

ok,
booted from cdrom (in vritualbox)
I LOVE the new icons (well back to the icons of 3.0 which i find much more functionnal.... not a big fan of faenza here, i find the icons are lacking clarity, but of course i must be half blind from aging...)
tried the upgrade of 4.0 on hda1
complained cannot mount /dev/cdrom
I defined it as a web upgrade, did it and rebooted
it upgraded, right away could not use sakura (some library missing)
tried to log to tazpanel to try some upgrade from there, never accepted root/root
issued tazpkg upgrade, it tried to upgrade a number of things i could see error messages
at reboot the system is broken (text replaced with squares and a bunch of icons not showing up)
That cooking is really an alpha, right ? or did i miss something really obvious ?
At least, i prefer the new (old) gui.

I still get the 5% loader even if I use sound=noconf nomodeset screen=text..
What am I doing wrong?
(Using virtualbox)

I have hit the same problem
I could boot if booting right away as i mentionned, without changing anything then ctrl+alt+del then reststarting slim
But still having a huge number of problems, as i mentionned.

But I don't reach a black screen... Why?
Offline
Not sure
As i said, it would not even start to work if i changed anything
eg if i follow mojo's advice, then i do not reach the black screen either

In Virtualbox, I have found that setting the VM's sound card to
Host Audio Driver: ALSA Audio Driver
Audio Controller: Soundblaster 16
allows me to boot using default options. I get a black screen after booting then do a CTRL+ALT+BKSPC.
Login using root account then start slim. Now I'm into a working desktop but with the same problems you describe above with pcmanfm, tazpanel, etc.

With rolling of 2013-04-02 and 2013-04-15, my Lifebook hangs with this message only when batteries are present; never when removed.
Can this help to solve the problem ?
