Introducing TazBot

Hey all, this post is to introduce our new IRC bot, TazBot, to you all.

It has one simple purpose: To answer frequently asked questions when nobody is around on IRC.

Why did I make it? There are many reasons, but the main one is that I'm tired of answering the same questions over and over, especially with impatient people idling on IRC for only a minute. TazBot provides a way to help with both problems and it's answers database can be expanded on the fly. It's a win-win situation.

Now to use TazBot is pretty simple. After you connect to IRC, type [c]TazBot: topics[/c] to see what answer topics exist within the database. Then either type a question with the topic in it or just copy and paste the topic after [c]TazBot:[/c]

Examples: [c]TazBot: How do I become root?[/c]

          [c]tazbot Installing SliTaz[/c]

As you can see, case doesn't matter, but you must have [c]tazbot[/c] first so the bot knows you're talking to it. Then just follow it with the topic or topic related question.

Now get to using it and suggesting more Answers we can add to it

Here, at forum we have not friendly bots :] Huh… Only living people ;p

It may be fun to have a dynamic wiki where one will have hierarchical topics

From top (general questions) to bottom (special contribution)

Working like wikipedia with links from a topics to another, Key masters will organise the top and let Members open a bottom-topics (or an annexe) to contribute with their own knowledge

(i.e : someone who doesn't know  specialy slitaz but have very good tricks for firefox ..)

So, to often people just ask again on forum because either they didn't found precisely waht they looking for, either because explications looks to technical for them-selves

TazBot got a slight upgrade. It will now answer your question in private without you having to type it's nick at all. It will answer questions with it's nickname anywhere in the question:
