Need Help with wbar

Hey guys,

First time user here, and as such things are...different for me with this distro. Up and running on a super old compaq computer, and I gotta thank all the people who have worked on this wonderful distro that has breathed new life into my ancient computer! Now on to the meat of my problem. I've managed to install a few packages through the manager which I'm still learning, and everything was going great until I decided that it might be nice to have a dock. So I installed wbar, but after installation...nothing. Nothing shows up at all. The package manager doesn't even show the little green arrow next to the package to indicate that it's indeed installed, but when I double click wbar in the manager it assures me that it is. Any advice? Thanks a lot!

Re: Need Help with wbar

Would this topic be of any help? http://forum.slitaz.org/topic/start-menu-task-tray-bar-gone

Anyway, what iso did you install? Stable or cooking?

Moreover I would suggest to use terminal command instead of package manager. It may return messages that could help knowing what went wrong:

launch xtern and type:

$su

=> enter root password

#tazpkg get-install wbar

#exit

More help about tazpkg could be found here: http://doc.slitaz.org/en:handbook:packages and here: http://hg.slitaz.org/tazpkg/raw-file/tip/doc/tazpkg.en.html

Good luck.

:-)

Re: Need Help with wbar

It's because there are additional steps to take so you can use wbar like configuring and then starting it. It doesn't get started automatically when you install the package - trust me, you'd hate the default placement it it did.

Luckily there is a guide on how to do this in the docs @ http://doc.slitaz.org/en:guides:sexydesktop which shows you shows you how to configure and use wbar wink
