Re: any chance to have slitaz with Wayland Display Server ?

History is not repeating, now is wayland time and for sure you do not see "the big picture".

Tizen is already on Wayland and no way to go back.

SailfishOS is already on Wayland and no way to go back. BTW, I'm using Jolla phone since begining of 2014. Fantastic GUI !!!

Fedora already include wayland and started to move to Wayland.

Intel have full support for Wayland.

Raspberry Pi is moving to Wayland trough Maynard.

Ubuntu is not able to provide a consistent MIR experience. Even MIR is just another Wayland. I bet they will switch to Wayland at the end.

Clutter has complete Wayland support.

GTK+ 3.10 has complete Wayland 1.2 support.

Qt 5 has complete Wayland support.

KDE has complete Wayland support.

GENIVI automotive industry consortium for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) supports Wayland.

Re: any chance to have slitaz with Wayland Display Server ?

Maybe it's a good thing, but take a look into next two lists (Distrowatch version):

Distros with wayland support: › click ‹

Distros with xorg-server support: › click ‹

36 vs 430 ;-)

BTW SliTaz includes now both Wayland and Weston.

Anyone interested in it can now remove xorg-server from his SliTaz and install Wayland.

Don't forget to share your feelings with us. Good luck!

Re: any chance to have slitaz with Wayland Display Server ?

For sure it is a smart move and this will bring needed compositor unification along many Linux distros and finally a clean environment for all major developers.

At the time been, comparing how many distros are currently on wayland is useless. We may count next year how many wayland distros are migrated. Tizen 3, Fedora, will use wayland this year as default. There is still lot of work, but many will follow.

I like a lot Slitaz and personaly consider Slitaz should move to wayland support at least for RPi.

There is still time to gain the momentum and increase Slitaz user base.
