install slitaz on acer travelmate 202t running windows xp

hello...once i had ran slitaz on that laptop...i had a windows cd so i tried to install windows xp and it does run only a bit slowly...now that i have downloaded slitaz 4.0 and burnt it on a dvd (i had no cds at hand smile i put it in the laptop and it does not boot...i tried to set booting from cd-rom and yet it boots not...any help would be appreciated...

PS. i have also tried puppy linux and other lightweight linux and the same thing happens..just a black screen with a - blinking and after a while it boots windows. (does it have anything to do with the fact that windows formatted the drive before it installed? ... )

THANK YOU big_smile

Re: install slitaz on acer travelmate 202t running windows xp

put slitaz-4.0-core.iso to root folder on disk C: or D: or another; (from http://mirror.slitaz.org/iso/4.0/flavors/  )

edit boot ini - put to end string

C:\grldr="Grub4DOS"

and edit in boot.ini string "timeout 30" to for example "timeout 5" wink

put file http://mirror.slitaz.org/boot/grldr to C:\

edit/create/add to  c:\menu.lst:

default 0

timeout 5

title SliTaz GNU/Linux

  find --set-root --ignore-cd --ignore-floppies /slitaz-4.0-core.iso

   map --mem /slitaz-4.0-core.iso (hd32)

  map --hook

rootnoverify (hd32)

chainloader  (hd32)

boot, and on black screen, select "Grub4dos"

enjoy!

p.s

dvd and cd have different filesystem

for boot dvd you can use    http://mirror.slitaz.org/iso/4.0/packages-4.0.iso

p.p.s

read http://doc.slitaz.org/en:guides:frugal  , (you can select language on top  you want )

it works right now, if you have questions, please, ask it here, today I'll be online)
