Trouble with installing slitaz on HP compaq T5720 Thin Client

Hi, there! I am new to slitaz but impressed by its small size and simplicity. Recently I bought a 2nd-hand HP Compaq T5720 thin client, which was orignally booted by windows xp embedded. As I want to use it host a mini website at home, and after doing a little homework I decided to switch to slitaz. I have a problem installing it on the computer. I burned slitaz iso file on DVD, and use it to start the computer and nothing happed. But when I use puppylinux liveCD on the computer and it workes fine. With puppylinux installed on the HDD of the computer, the computer can be successfully started with slitaz LiveCD. However, after I formmted the disk on which puppylinux is installed under Slitaz and installed slitaz on the computer, the computer fails to start.I guess there is something wrong with the bootable part? Thanks! ---bokodo

Just one point....the iso image is a CD image and not a DVD image so perhaps you may want to try burning on to a CD and give it a try. This may be a long shot but worth a try.

Re: Trouble with installing slitaz on HP compaq T5720 Thin Client

Thanks for your reply! Proplem solved and this is how I did it:

1. Install puppylinux on the HP Compaq T5720;

2. Insert slitaz LiveCD into DVD drive and the computer can be boosted by slitaz now;

3. Install slitaz from Tazpanel:

   1) Format the HDD of the computer with Gparted editor (including the partition where puppylinux is installed);

   2) Install slitaz and the most important thing is to check the item "Install Grub bootloader".

4. Remove the LiveCD of Slitaz and Restart the computer. Everything will be OK.

Hope this will help someboby, though I know this is simple enough for experts:)
