Hello. I use SliTaz 4.0 from USB drive. I success establish connection with my Wi-Fi spot and have Enternet in OS (can do ping, wget, surfing with Midori Web Browser and other).
I want to use Steam (hldsupdatetool utility for download dedicated game servers). I do:
wget http://www.steampowered.com/download/hldsupdatetool.bin
chmod +x hldsupdatetool.bin
./hldsupdatetool.bin <<< "yes"
All is well and time to run "steam" application:
./steam
Checking bootstrapper version...
On this line i got freeze. "steam" tries to connect to their server. In Wireshark sniffer I see outgoing TCP packets, but, I can not see not one incoming traffic packet from "steam" server. This is default firewall in OS or something?
I tried:
KERNEL_SECURITY="no" and IPTABLES_RULES="no" in "firewall.conf" file and exec "/etc/init.d/firewoll restart"
Also:
"/etc/init.d/firewall stop"
Does not help

can you ping steam servers?

This is not a problem with slitaz.
Steam fails in the same way when I test on arch,debian,and lubuntu.
Sends packets to 68.142.72.250 and gets no reply.
I get ping reply from 68.142.72.250.
