Window minimize button not functioning

Hi, I just noticed that whenever I pressed the minimise button the window just disappears - ie the application is closed off. No problems with maximize button and the close button.

I tried out different themes but had the same result. Any ideas why this is so?

EDIT : This probably relates to a previous issue which appears to be associated with running r128 driver. When I first changed the config to run r128 video driver the bottom panel just disappeared. To overcome this problem I created a new bottom panel. It appears what happens now is that when I minimize apps, they minimize to the original bottom panel which is no longer visible. When I did a ps -ef, it tells me that all the processes which disappeared off the screen are still running!

Update : found a work around by adding the Window List applet to the bottom panel. Has anyone got a better idea? Thanks
