Graphics Card: ATI Radeon 9200 Pro
Monitor: Viewsonic VA1912wb (Documentation: http://www.abnet.am/images/Viewsonic_va1912w.pdf)
Platform:SliTaz Cooking on a Dell Precision 340
I installed slitaz a couple of days ago from a livecd onto my dell precision 340. I have been trying to get X window to start since then. The first time I typed startx I got a no screens found error after looking in the log file it said something along the lines of screens were found but none had a useable configuration. Thinking it was a driver issue, I downloaded xorg-xf86-video-radeonhd but that driver did not support my card. So I downloaded xorg-xf86-video-ati and after looking in the log file I saw that it did support my card but startx and x -configure crashed because of a segmentation fault. I uninstalled all my drivers and downloaded the amd non-free driver which didnt support my card so I had to download the legacy ati non-free driver which crashed after it was unable to detect what X window version was installed. Seeing no other option I reinstalled the xorg-xf86-video-vesa driver and tried to edit my xorg.conf file, hoping that would solve the problem but I keep getting an error that says, screens found but none have a usable configuration. At this point I just want X window to start I don't care about performance.

vesa: Ignoring device with a bound kernel driver
radeon drm kernel module loads, KMS prevents vesa from loading
Use [c]nomodeset[/c] bootcode to the bootloader menu which disables KMS.
radeon still loads but KMS is disabled so vesa is able to load
Boots to desktop
Configure xorg files in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d
