Hi SliTaz team. This is my first time on the forum and my first try at SliTaz Linux. But I ran into some difficulty.
While trying to install SliTaz, I'm suppose to run Gparted. But when I click on it it opens up, but immediately closes without showing any indication of a error. Since that doesn't work, I tried to setup my partition with a 3rd-Party app called Partition Magic 8, located on a bootable CD called MiniPE 2005.
With my partition set and formatted for Ext3, I try again to install SliTaz. This time skipping Gparted, setting my formatting, hostname, username, password with GRUB enabled. The drive formatting was successful and has started the installation, after a few minutes the installation screen disappear along with the bar at the top and at the bottom before the entire system freezes with no activity from the CD or HDD. The CPU usage was 100% but that counter froze too.
When I tried to reset the PC without the CD, GRUB starts to load but eventually gives an "error 15" message.
Here's my PC configuration, I want to use the PC just as a music center.

192MB SDRAM (64MBx3 @ 133MHz)
Gigabyte 6VXC7-4X-P Mainboard
64MB Jetway Geforce4 MX440 AGP 8X
WD Caviar WD400 HDD

I can confirm that there is nothing to do actually with Gparted in SliTaz (error msg > «hal» is the cause). I use of course a Gparted from an other distro...

it sounds that you both use rolling - dont do this, it has a lot of bugs

It's not the rolling version. It's the stable one.
Can it be something not set correctly in the BIOS?
Most apps runs fine in LiveCD, except for Gparted and the installation wizard. I did check the media with the tool in the boot menu and with Nero ScanDisk on a Windows PC. Everything checks OK.

I've just checked it in Oracle VM VirtualBox. When I set the settings as close as possible to the physical specs of the system stated above Gparted doesn't work, But when I increase the RAM from 192 to 256, Gparted opens up OK.
So this is a memory issue. Unfortunately I don't have any more memory, the mainboard is banked up full and it's not worth the effort to buy memory for this old PC. A nearby 2nd-hand place already quoted me ZAR150 (US$15) for 128MB, that's pure lunacy.
EDIT:
I've just tried to install SliTaz to the drive in a different PC with more RAM and move the drive back to the old PC. It works brilliant. The installation got past Step 1 and it rebooted successfully.
Thank you oui and kultex for your replies. I hope the Dev team can benefit from this troubleshooting. But next time I'll remember how to do it.
