Hello,
i want Slitaz on my Notebook.
When booting from Cd, it works fine. I describe, what i do: I choose "Languages" in the bootmenu, there i choose Deutsch (German), then i press enter, in the following menue i press enter again, Slitaz begins booting up to the desktop - it works very fast and well, no problems.
But it only runs from CD as described before, booting without choosing "Deutsch" in the languages menue, it will freeze after a while.
From HDD:
I installed Slitaz on sda1, i installed grub. When i boot the pc, the boot-menue appears, i choose Slitaz and booting begins. After a while, i have to choose the language - two times "de" ist my choice. In this mode - before i choose the language with the opened language window - i can use the right mouse button and open, what is offered in the menue. After having chosen the language, the desktop appears, disappears and and then the pc freezes, no reaction then.
How can i run slitaz from hdd? It definetly works with the hardware, so it seems to be a "finetuning problem"! (?)
Please help me:-)

Slitaz boots without the pcmcia card.

Have yo downloaded Slitaz-4.0.iso ? May be you wouldn't run X after the boot, log as root (passwd root) and type #tazkeymap first and after unlog and relog #tazx

@newtaz
Highlight the grub menu entry, hit the e key twice to edit the kernel command line options.
Add your kmap= and lang= options to bootcode:
grub edit> kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.37-slitaz root=/dev/XXXX kmap=de-latin1 lang=de_DE
Hit Enter key then b key to boot
If it's a full install you don't have to edit the options in /boot/grub/menu.lst as this writes the configuration to /etc/keymap.conf and /etc/locale.conf
When /etc/init.d/system.sh detects the presence of keymap.conf and locale.conf it won't launch "tazbox boot" which starts X and blanks out your screen.

So, it works fine now. After having removed the pcmcia card once, it booted normal. Now it boots also with the the card in the slot. Thank you very much for helping me!!!

Hey, i'm newtaz, i lost my password. Its a bit complicated, so i have to resign with a new nick, i will contact an admin by mail to check out what to do.
So, after having installed other linux distributions, the pc won't run, because no distribution exept slitaz is able to install an bootmanger on this Fujitsu nNotebook. I havent't had this problem in the past, i installed a lot of distributions on different pcs.
So, now after reinstalling slitaz, the problem appeared again, with the commonds from mojo everything works fine now. The pcmcia trick worked no longer, so i had to do it the way which is described here.
Thank you again for your help! Now my old notebook runs very fast. Nice distribution, i'm thankfull for it! Best notebook distri i have ever tried.
