Distrowatch entry actualisation ?

hi all,

who manages the actualisation entries in http://www.distrowatch.com ?

last update shows from sept., 21st, 2012?

and how does distrowatch count the page hints of popularity?

Distrowatch is run by it's own staff and we have little control over what gets published there. Much like any review site. Unlike Microsoft, we can't pay people say good things about us

It's probably basing it's hits results on how many people visit the distrowatch page. As for the 21st of September 2012 date, it's the one we're using for the rolling iso. It's a hard coded bit of the site, so while the iso image updates, the only way to show that update's date is to manually set the site to show it.

Pankso the initiator of SliTaz and maybe bellard or erjo the senior slitaz developers can edit/update the SliTaz page on distrowatch.

so it doesn't make sense to hit slitaz more than once a day in distrowatch, because i can't change my ip-adress. ;-(

I think in the end what really matters is how efficient and useful Slitaz is and the level of support people can get from the support forum and not a popularity contest based on a spurious hit count!

In my view a good product DistroWatch reporting well spare the Linux world, but I have to make a rancking "so angry" in a sentence, because it hurts so distros see relegated to positions shameful history, see eg Slackware or CentOS outside the top ten... or see Fedora and Debian but behind a large new Mageia, it seems unfair ..

While some believe it is necessary to ranking, I'm not so agree, because there are many, and work history (Debian case) do not deserve to be on trial for a simple ranking positions.

For that reason, we should not worry SliTaz community, by the position assigned us rancking

We know that our distro is very good. -

We have discussed this on Mailing List some time ago... In a few words, we could be releasing (and reporting to DW) a cooking version every 2 months, to get a better ranking. Anyway, the focus is not the rankings, is the users
