how to disable usb mass storage

hi everyone

almost 2years i use slitaz more than 200pc's as far as with no problem.

im trying to disable usb mass storage in slitaz.

i just found out if i will kill the udevd process after booting slitaz will not explore new devices which is ok for me. Most  of the time its ok. But problem is after some other time(2-3 hours later) slitaz hangs, i mean keyboard or mouse doesnt work anymore. ('Cause i stopped udevd process in startup remember )

is there any clear way to disable usb storage devices.

Maybe, configure udev rules?

CONFIG_USB_STORAGE=y

to

#CONFIG_USB_STORAGE is not set

Compile the kernel.

i dont know its the right way but at least it fixed my problem

rm -f /etc/udev/rules.d/92-hal.rules

After rm -f /etc/udev/rules.d/92-hal.rules  have you tried to mount an usb key ?

actually yesterday there was no problem and seems was working fine for me.

'cause i want to block usb storage in agents pc which i success this way.

after 3days, this time i have no problem with keyboard and mouse and agent cant use usb stick anymore.

but sometimes tux user is gone. what i mean when they are using pc, immediately giving error "Failed to execute command" and asking user-password for tux. and no longer i can use that pc anymore. seems tux user is getting defective.

in 200pc it happens 3 to 5pc. i dont know, why?

is anyone know udevd rules in slitaz. just for usb storage?

"Failed to execute command" happens, when /home is not found or corrupt - do you have an extra home partition? - I dont think it has anything to do with usb storage.

romano, what kind of PCs you have - are they all the same? I think you could be a perfect tester for cooking - will you help us?

I think in cooking your problem should disapear, as there is no more hal and udevil is quite easy to handle

Two days ago I can't log into my SliTaz 4 using SLiM as regular tux user, only as root. I've got same SLiM message: "Failed to execute command".

I understand my problem later. Cooking more and more packages I've fill up my small 7 GB SliTaz /home partition, and haven't anymore free space on it (free: 0 B). After freeing up some thousands of Megs (as root administrator), I have possibility to log in as regular tux user.

"Failed to execute command" happens, when /home is not found or corrupt

... or have no free space left on it.

PS. Why I can log in as root superuser? Because I have frugal installation. Root no need /home partition or directory. He use /root directory instead. In frugal installation /root stored in RAM. And I have free room in RAM to system can work.

rm -f /etc/udev/rules.d/92-hal.rules

works well almost a week.
