lxpanel battery monitor

First off, my end goal is to create an iso I can use on various computers, including laptops.

Currently, I have slitaz installed under virtualbox and all the changes I've made to it so far persist.

However, I want a battery monitor in the tray and it won't persist after logout/reboot. When I add it and set the values I want, I look at the panel configuration file under ~/.config/lxpanel/slitaz/panels and I can see it was added. After logout/reboot, it has disappeared. I am working on a desktop computer not a laptop but it should stay either way. In fact there's a HideIfNoBattery option. Any ideas why it won't stay?

Thanks
