mplayer-plugin in slitaz

I installed slitaz-cooking on a grub partition of my AMD E350 desktop, and everything runs reasonably well. I got slitaz mplayer installed and went to slackware.com to get the mplayer-plugin in the /extras directory, which I decompressed and tarred so that firefox registers the slackware mplayer plugin in the slitaz firefox browser plugins section. I tested it on france2.fr (Je parle francais.), but only got audio, no video. Let me tell you that xine and xine-plugin are good, but mplayer has charms unknown to xine when its plugin works.

(Oh yes, I disabled the xine plugin while using the mplayer plugin. And, xine plugin does not register until you manually copy the contents of /usr/share/xine into /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins.)

P. S. to get going in the latest cooking, you have to cancel the locale dialog that shows initially, then get xterm as a favorite application and start lxpanel. If you run 'sh .xinitrc', you get a missing directory error message.

Right-click the mouse on the mplayer plugin panel embedded in the page, and change the video setting to x11. That makes the video work with slitaz, at least on an AMD E350 with the ati xorg driver. Right clicking the mouse also lets you set "full screen" status, and rolling the mouse wheel on the bottom right volume control turns the volume up and down.

P. S.: The Xorg.1.log file states that "acceleration" has not been enabled, yet the flash streaming video appears to work as if it is accelerated.

I'm highly interessed in the E350 and I was wondering for long time if this cpu speeds-up the flash video (or simply the HD in general) .

Need some extra package beside catalyst

Two items, Mr. Fryedsnail:

1) If you test the E350 with the mplayer plugin on france2.fr, you will notice problems with lip syncing, Or ballet dancers leaping in slow motion. I made an attempt to install the 8.8 version of fglrx on my installation using the slitaz tools, and it refused to compile, no matter how much gnuification was pursued. I think the mplayer plugin has problems with the non-gnu nature of busybox utilities. I think there may be similar, but less noticed problems with the xine plugin as well. What we could really use is a full gnu version of busybox.

2) The Radeon 6320 video chip is simply very fast, and you can see this on very complicated streaming flash. Part of "video acceleration" is the speed of the video chip, decoding and tiling completely aside. Also, getting the phase locked loop in the chip running at an optimum frequency, which the xfree86 ati video driver does, seems to be more efficient than the more recent open-source drivers that assume an optimum speed without testing.

The truth is that I have installed a three-year old RIPLinuX sub-slackware system on my test partition. and the old version of xorg was not written for the new video chip, and it worked remarkably well, anyway.

Are you just telling us, that the simple "xfree86 ati video" does hardware acceleration of video decoding ?  You are hardly readable

There is also a mplayer front-end called gnome-mplayer that installs a plugin for Firefox. It uses the SVN version of mplayer rather than the old version in the repository.

I am simply reporting experience on the slitaz ati driver in running test streaming flash videos that I have tried out on other installations and operating systems. Under slitaz, streaming flash is remarkably good, comparable to under Windows 7. You can also hear the cpu fan speed up noticeably, a sign that the video chip is working.

This isn't a matter of opinion, it is a matter of observation.

ok ok, can I just know if presently, slitaz can accelerate decoding video on Web with hardware graphical chip ?  I thought that u will give an answer with your Zacate Fusion Amd or whatever
