Boot and partition problem

Hello everyone,

I've been using Slitaz (hard drive install) for a while and I'm very happy with it.

So first of all many thanks to all the developers and the community for creating such a great distribution.

Now my problem.

I had to do some changes to the partitioning of my hard disk and decided to move the Slitaz install to a different partition. So I rsynced the / filesystem to a new partition (skipping some directories like /dev /proc... that I manually created on the destination; same for /etc/fsatb).

Grub files were already on a separate partition.

This has worked for a few days, I've been able to use the system from the new partition just fine.

Now suddenly the boot hangs at the filesystem check, and I realised that the check is done on the old partition (logical partition sda5, whereas now I am on primary sda3, formatted ext3 like the previous). Actually the problem seems to be the recovery of the journal.

One more info that I'm not sure it's relevant: the last time I used it, I tried to create a mirror backup copy of the system with rsync, with destination sda5; when I came back to the pc it was frozen (first time on slitaz for me I believe) and I had to power off.

So my questions are... what can I change so that the boot pocess checks the right partition ?

Is it a bad idea altogether to manually create a new installation by copying the system or can it work?

Where are the references to the partition in a working system ? (somehow I thought after boot the OS would only "see" its own mount point as /, rather than the actual partition).

I would very much appreciate any help !!

I tried to be detailed enough, if there is any file that you might need to see I can try and get them using a live distro. I just don't know what might be useful now.

EDIT:

I can successfully boot a frugal install on the same partition.

It looks like the problem is solved.

My bad! The filesystem check on a different partition was done as per rcS.conf !

Before finding that out I had also performed a filesystem check and repair from GParted, which might have solved the journal retrieval issue.

Now both the default and the backup systems work fine.

I just wonder if there might be other variables or files in the system that refer esplicitely to the partition and that need to be modified when doing this kind of manual installation or system mirroring. Any ideas ?
