as stated-
do i have any alternatives to tazlito for creating a live cd of my current installation?
all tazlito does is create an empty rootfs folder in /home/slitaz/distro
i am simply trying to create a live cd that INCLUDES the b43 firmware
even if tazlito didnt make the iso, i have read that iso master can be used to make new iso with the "new" rootfs.gz generated by tazlito and that seems simple enough
posted previously on this subject with no responses
what would be great is for b43 firmware to be included, i read broadcom doesnt want it distributed for some reason, even though i see others {ie backtrack} include them
if i try to generate a distro is says "A rootfs exists in /home/slitaz/distro please clean the distro tree or change directory path"
if i try to generate a flavor it says "unable to find a distro rootfs"
anyone have a link to a slitaz aircrack-ng distro that HAS the b43 firmware included?

SliTaz aircrack-ng isn't really SliTaz 3.
It pulls it's repository from the latest cooking even though it's meant to work with the SliTaz 2 repository. It was built on the old SliTaz 2 cooking version back in the day. Which means you're using an older and less complete copy of SliTaz.
Rather use a copy of SliTaz 3 with the aircrack-ng package installed. It will save you a crapload of effort. You can make one like this @ http://pizza.slitaz.org

Thank you very much, ill get to working on that now.

installed slitaz 3. having trouble getting tazlito to use the flavor i downloaded. would it be possible/easier to upgrade my aircrack-ng slitaz version to slitaz 3 and work from there rather than install the packages onto the ver3 build?
Offline
nope, after upgrading the slitaz aircrack-ng dristro to version 3 it just sits at grub now, and the pizza page loses its connection often with the browser that comes with vers 3, probably gonna quit linux again this is getting ridiculous.
5 different posts only 1 reply (thank you Trixar_za for being the only one who did) no wonder nobody uses linux, because nobody answers your questions.
"tazlito 3 easy steps" my ass!

@inknwaterman, I can understand the frustration of not being able to resolve your issue but I feel that to complain about not getting responses to your problems here in this forum is simply not being grateful for the services offered by a group of people without any expectations in return. I am not involved with the development work of Slitaz and I am an end user and despite some outstanding issues I have myself, I find the people who are supporting this distro are doing a wonderful job and the least we can do is to acknowledge their efforts and be patient. If you do not have time sort out the problem as you mention then of course the right decision would be to stick with Windows where you can pay for the services to have the problems sorted out by Microsoft as per the service level agreements.
Let's not pick on the guys/gals who have developed this great little OS.

gdesilva im not picking on them in the least, and i AM grateful to the developers as i philosophically agree with open source.
i just get annoyed when people dont notice the little things like how the pizza page doesnt work properly with midori which is the default browser in the slitaz 3 distro
i DO think slitaz is great, the aircrack-ng version worked great, only problem is tazlito{as stated above by Trixar_za} wont work on older versions now. why have tazlito try to connect to internet at all? lol
i just get angry about getting ignored is all, the purpose of a forum is to get questions answered, and the people who have the knowledge im seeking were once noobs themselves but dont seem to remember it.
also btw, anyone who would PAY for windows is a sucker, lol
and microsoft doesnt sort anything out, worst thing you can do is update your windows, microsoft is an evil, masonic corporation, hence my continued effort to learn linux
Offline
btw, lol, midori DID just manage to get the custom flavor from pizza on attempt 21 {yes i counted} i guess it has to do with my attitude at the time of the download, lol
Offline
I am glad that you managed to get some of the issues resolved and thank you for taking my comment in good spirit. I wish I was in a position to help you out but that's the way it goes. I also spent fair bit of time to sort out some minor issues but I feel it is well worth it as the OS is great fun to use and work with.

yeah, resolving problems is the way you learn, its how our brains are hardwired.
tazlito gen-distro seems to be working now but i dont think it loaded the flavor i downloaded so ill probably be banging my head against it all night again, lol

ISO downloads don't always work well in Midori and Firefox when you use a download manger. Not really sure what causes this, but when I download the iso with Firefox without using the DownloadEmAll! Download manager, it seems to work fine.

Trixar_za eventually got it downloaded with Midori,
just now tazlito wont load the flavor, i get this
root@slitaz:/home/tux# tazlito getflavor /home/tux/mytest.flavor
[ OK ]
Cleaning /home/slitaz/distro...
Extracting flavor /home/tux/mytest.flavor... Creating distro-packages.list...mv:

Updating tazlito.conf...sed: bad option in substitution expression

while typing that out the second time {browser froze up, lol} i realized maybe i should double check that i didnt choose the cooking option in the flavor i downloaded instead of the version 3, i had been making many attempts and might have went too fast, gonna try to re-download

same error with redownload, seems to be working from the "make live iso" only got that error when trying in xterm
anyways, just wanted to post apologizing to all for my earlier angry comments, im a dick when im not stoned. gonna just try solo for a while instead of spamming this thread

Everything worked great in ver3. made iso/burned cd with all packages i needed.
ty Trixar_za for suggesting i use ver3, i ended up just using tazpkg get-install for all my desired packages as oposed to pizza, that worked better for me because the package manager gave a description of each so i could better decide what i needed/wanted
