Does anyone have any experience with running SliTaz from a bootable SDHC card?
The HDD in my old laptop has recently died :¬( and I was thinking of replacing it with one of these:

It would be a cheap alternative using one of my old 2Gb SDHC cards.
However, on researching this solution, there seems to be some concern about the performace of SDHC cards as replacement HDD devices and their longevity.
It would appear that SDHC perform quite well in terms of data transfer rates, but not very well at all for random access read/writes. Would this be a problem for SliTaz? If I understand correctly, the whole OS would be read from the SDHC card straight into RAM and would then no longer use the SDHC device.
The other problem highlighted with these devices is the limited number of read/writes guaranteed in the life of these cards. Again, if it is only read on boot, rather than constantly being written to as with other nameless OS's, would this be a big problem?
Has anyone done anything similar, and have experience to share?

I would still be interested to know if anyone has any practical experience in doing this, particularly in replacing their HDD with a SDHC using an adapter.

I use Slitaz booted from SD since a year or two.
You're right, once it loads into ram, the card stays unused (until you mount it for some reasons).
I do however use hdd to store most of my files, exept those which I want to have always in my pocket 
And I must say it's very convenient way of working.
Suggest you try it by yourself.
