Slitaz Network

I noticed in my updated version of slitaz cooking that the main menu contains an item labeled Slitaz Network with many links to slitaz and slitaz on facebook, flattr, and twitter.  None of the links seem to work when clicked.  Am I alone in this, or is this a bug to be fixed?

Re: Slitaz Network

Why not ?

My goal here is to make slitaz more popular (2 month on FB = 213 fan), have news and the community more accessible. For Flattr, we simply need money to pay the electricity and bandwich, you may notice I pay everything for years now and it woul be nice if I get some help! The goal is aslo to make slitaz independant and autonomus. Imagine I just switch the server at 10 meter of me off and stop the project or I die... is it fear for all the community ?

Oh and the links works for me, what browse is configured in one of thes desktop file (right click on a item in the menu --> add to desktop --> open in an editor) ?

Re: Slitaz Network

Sure hope you don't do that buddy. Switch off the server I mean.

The links work for me too, I am using Firefox.

Re: Slitaz Network

Fresh Updated Cooking

Default applications file:

/etc/slitaz/applications.conf is copied to ~/.config/slitaz for tux

Default browser is set to BROWSER="GtkLauncher"

GtkLauncher is not installed.

http://forum.slitaz.org/topic/slitaz-light-web-browser

GtkLauncher was removed from libwebkit in favour of tazweb.

Slitaz Networks .desktop shortcuts contain:

EXEC= browser URL

This calls up default browser GtkLauncher which is not installed so nothing happens.

Same issue if you right click desktop Favorite Applications/Web Browser

Fix problem:

Edit /etc/slitaz/applications.conf and ~/.config/slitaz for tux with text editor or

menu/preferences/favorite applications

or

right click desktop Favorite Applications/Configure Favorites

Change GtkLauncher to a browser installed on your system.

For example I chose midori since it is currently the default browser on cooking core.

Web browser: midori

Click ->Change button

Re: Slitaz Network

ln -s /usr/bin/tazweb /usr/bin/GtkLauncher will work if tazweb is installed.

Pascal added tazweb to the flavor files 10 hours ago.

Re: Slitaz Network

Okay, thanks everyone, I gather the links don't work in an updated live system because the default browser that was gtklauncher is removed in the updated version, and the links don't fix themselves, but configuration files have to be manually configured.  I will try that when I again update my live system.

Re: Slitaz Network

Trixar_za, did you mean ln -s /usr/bin/tazweb /usr/bin/GtkLauncher?  Not sure what this command does, perhaps creates a symbolic link from GtkLauncher to tazweb?  Anyway, I did not try the command either way around.  After upgrading my cooking live session there is no /usr/bin/GtkLauncher, so I thought the command would not work.  I followed the instruction of mojo to right click on the desktop to configure favorite applications and replaced GtkLauncher with tazweb.  Now the links in the SliTaz Network menu work.  Thanks, mojo.  I must admit, I still do not understand why GtkLauncher is removed from the upgraded version.  Could not tazweb and GtkLauncher coexist?  I like GtkLauncher because, unlike tazweb, there is an entry field for a new url.

Re: Slitaz Network

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. It creates an symlink to Tazweb, which is just a cheap trick to get GtkLauncher dependant links to work with TazWeb instead.
