SliTaz GNU/Linux Cooking 20121221- Kernel Panic while booting.

Today I was trying to install the SliTaz cooking version on my Toshiba MK2004GAL HDD, installed in an Acer Aspire 5315 (Specifications at the end.).

After installing, the computer rebooted and tried to start the kernel, but instead sent this error:

"Booting SliTaz GNU/Linux (cooking) (Kernel vmlinuz-2.6.37-slitaz)

Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83

[Linux-bzImage, setup=0x3400, size-0x25d0a0]

Kernel panic - Not syncing : VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown block (0,0)

Pid : 1, comm: swapper Not tainted 2.6.37-slitaz #2"

Should I put the call trace, because I heard the numbers in it are specific to the processor and memory of the computer that caused the error? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: SliTaz GNU/Linux Cooking 20121221- Kernel Panic while booting.

this messages usually appear because the grub command line is not configured properly

check what partition number slitaz is installed on and tune grub accordingly

if this is an IDE disk then it is hda (hdX) otherwise sdX

if everything looks fine and you are booting from a usb disk then adding [c]rootdelay=5[/c] to the command line will solve the kernel panic issue

Thanks, now I can use SliTaz again. But does anyone know why I can't modify the status of this post?

Weird, yesterday I was unable to change it. But I resolved the problem, so this topic can be ignored.
