screen resolution

hi

i use slitaz-4.0-xorg-light.iso with frugal installation (grub 4 dos) over 200pcs. it seems ok. long time i use without problem. (almost)

last week in 3 agent complained about screen resolution. i realized screen resolution its not going over 800x600. but b4 was ok. ( i didnt change anything )

so i reset the pc with new frugal installation but however result is the same. How come problem is just started itself.

any idea?

still same, if i use slitaz-gtk-only i can get better resolution but this time some characters are missed/replaced with underscore.

just i didnt get it how come this problem is started?

i found the problem. Believe it or not but problem is the VGA cable.

I dont know how. if i use different VGA cable slitaz is showing up over 800x600 but there are 3 VGA cable just up to 800x600 resolution.

any comment?

BTW same vga cable i tested on windows. no problem at all.

See if you can help it.

I had the same problem with a vga cable to which the pin was missing EDID data (11-12-15)

Same thing with lowcost lcd tv monitor, where the EDID information did not exist.

thanks for the info.

but vga cable is working with windows without problem. is this normal?

Yes it is normal. For me it happened that windows had no problems, however Xorg did not work well :-)

But I could manually set the correct resolution from the command line with xrandr.
