Hi,
I'm having some trouble installing SliTaz.
I can't boot into SliTaz Live mode - it gets stuck on "Searching for sound cards - 5%" and hangs; I can only forcibly shutdown the PC, which has a nVidia GPU.
So, in order to install SliTaz, I boot into SliTaz base mode, login as root, and run slitaz-installer. If I choose CDROM or web to install from, the installer with the progress bar remains for a split second and then claims to be finished. When I reboot, run update-grub on my main OS, and reboot into SliTaz, an older kernel version appears because SliTaz was installed in the same place before, and the kernel cannot be loaded. Is grub not recognizing SliTaz? What can I do to get SliTaz to install? Maybe if I could find where the slitaz-installer logs were located, I could pin down an exact error or problem...

you're having 2 distinct problems.
I think you cannot install from the base os, this explains the last one.
the searching for sound card is an old problem do a search on the forum
But i think that problem is with cooking only. Use the 4.0 iso and just do a full install (or just boot from that CD)

Hi,
Infact, cooking and Rolling have bug with sound card, you should use sound=noconf in boot parms.
And second problems, you use tazinst for install SliTaz (it's new installer)
You can use this tutorial to install SliTaz with new tool tazinst (http://hg.slitaz.org/slitaz-tools/raw-file/6e8c38a0aee3/doc/tazinst.en.html)

Ugh... text files...
Well thanks for the advice! I'll give your suggestions a shot and return.

Thanks! I was able to add the sound=noconf boot option and things worked.

I think you cannot install from the base os, this explains the last one.
When using tazinst with a merged multi root filesystem livecd or iso as the install source all the rootfs*.gz are combined to install the largest flavor.
Using core-4in1(SliTaz-4.0,cooking rolling) as an example you can boot into any version( base, justx, gtkonly, core) and use tazinst to install core only.
To install base, justx,or gtkonly using tazinst boot into a live cd of the flavor to be installed or use an iso of the flavor to be installed for the install source.
