Well, you can use the package manager that is a menu choice under system tools, I think. Or from the command line in xterm you can type tazpkg install downloaded_package.tazpkg. Hope that is clear and helps.

By the way, you can use the package manager or tazpkg at the command line to download and install packages in one step.

Since this is a duplicate post, you should try to remove the other one if you can.

Depends on the version actually Merlin. SliTaz 3 still needs people to use tazpkg install from command line for downloaded packages, while Cooking (and SliTaz 4) you only have to double click the package to install it. Still, why not download it with tazpkg instead? It will download and install from the repository for you.

Sorry, I wasn't aware that downloaded packages in slitaz cooking could be installed by double clicking the downloaded  packages, in pcmanfm or any graphical window?

Re: How do i install downloaded programmes (linux / Slitaz newbe)

It should run fine in pcmanfm or on the the desktop (since it's also controlled by pcmanfm). Mind you, the last time I used cooking was in February at which point I installed packages like that. Not sure if it's in the current cooking, but I doubt they'd remove that feature though wink
