Crash X with i915 driver

Hi,

I get randomly X crash with slitaz 3.0 stable and Intel i915 graphic driver on my 901 eeepc.

Is there anything to do ?

Check Xorg.0.log for errors and warnings:

tux@slitaz:~$ grep -e \(ww\) -e \(EE\) /var/log/Xorg.0.log

If you see many errors post the log at pastebin.com

There is no i915 driver in the slitaz repo.

Do you mean the xf86-video-intel driver in repo which supports i915 ?

Yes, xf86-video-intel driver is installed.

$ lsmod | grep i915

i915                  143208  0

intel_agp , agpgart , intel_gtt  should be loaded with i915 ?

#tazpkg get-install linux-agp

The evdev log errors:

#tazpkg get-install xorg-xf86-input-evdev

If this doesn't fix the problem post the entire /var/log/Xorg.0.log and lsmod to pastebin

Yes, i just installed the evdev package (with fr keyboard in /usr/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/10-keymap.fdi) and no evdev error anymore.

I added appgart and intel_agp in /etc/rcS.conf. intel_gtt does not load.

From time to time, i can see the screen slightly shivering for half of a second...

Now, i'm waiting for X crash... :-)

Hi,

After few hours, i got another X crash yesterday night while browsing the internet.

Screen got black with no mouse.

I could get tty1 -> tty6 with CTRL + Fn

With 'ps -e', i could see that Xorg, openbox, lxpanel, Firefox, etc... were still working.

After killing all of them, i couldn't run any X session.

Hi,

I removed slitaz-3.0 and installed slitaz cooking.

Now X is stable and no X crash anymore.

Everything works except webcam (need uvcvideo).
