[Noob question] How to use the Linux64 package?

Hello!

I have been using slitaz for a long time, and i am eager to make it my main OS (i love simplicity), but i cannot play my favorite game (kerbal space program) due to the 32-bit limitation (it runs at 10FPS). I know that slitaz 5 will have 64bit support, but it doesn't seem to be available in the near future, so i just wanted to know if it was possible to run slitaz 4.0 with 64-bit using the linux64 package.

I don't know much about architecture etc, and i read somewhere it would require re-compiling of all packages installed, so if i could get that confirmed as well would be nice.

Thanks in advance!

Re: [Noob question] How to use the Linux64 package?

Hi frash23,

You can run with linux64 (download and install packages from cooking) for use 4G or more of RAM.

For  your problem ("it runs at 10FPS), i think use vesa driver, and it's very basic driver doesn't support OpenGL.

I suggest to install your video card driver and OpenGL.

in Xterm tape:

[c]su[/c] (default password is root or own if you change this)

[c]tazpkg get-install xorg-xf86-video-driver[/c]

Replace driver by intel for Intel card, ati  for ATI card or nv for Nvidia card.

Re: [Noob question] How to use the Linux64 package?

Don't get me started on drivers. I do prefer sakura though.

I've literally tried install every single package containing *gl* in its name. It doesnt help. I've tried the Tazhhw, tazx and many other commands.

I even compiled my own kernel using the nvidia documentation page (kernel loaded successfully, but game was the same).

But the linux64 package, does it not need editing grub? Is it just automatic?
