tazusb - network card selection

I have problem after writefs command.

* I use frugal installation and start it with slitaz 4 on my pc.

* i installed packages (linphone, firefox..etc)

* When everything is complete i use "tazusb writefs" withoout compression and it creates a "rootfs.gz".

* i copy rootfs.gz to my flash drive.

* flash drive works well on my pc. but if i moved to my friend pc and boot with my flash drive slitaz shows no network ( i mean personal rootfs.gz)

* on my friend pc all slitaz flavors works well except my rootfs.gz

* but on my pc, my personal rootfs.gz works well.

Question is when i use tazusb is it possible delete all configuration files?

thanks

Re: tazusb - network card selection

Try [c]rm /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules[/c] before you [c]tazusb writefs[/c] to remove your network card from your friends rootfs.gz

The friends computer will generate a new /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules, it's network card will be eth0

Default INTERFACE="eth0" in /etc/network.conf will connect the network card.

Tazusb writefs is snapshot of your running system. Delete or modify the configuration files before you run tazusb writefs. You need to delete or set to defaults any configurations from your hardware that prevents hardware on another computer from functioning.

Re: tazusb - network card selection

mojo,

So, I think this is not bad idea to add third question to the [c]tazusb writefs[/c] dialog:

Do you wish to remove the sound card selection?

Do you wish to remove the screen resolution?

Do you wish to remove the network configuration?

I'll try to implement it in the next release of TazUSB soon.

Re: tazusb - network card selection

good morning

except for /home/tux folder where are the other configuration files.

may i delete all files in /etc/udev/rules.d/ folder.

what i am trying to do actually i am trying to create fs file to work in more than 150pc. ( with new taz packages which i installed ) I mean im trying to make new slitaz flavor which it can work in any pc. thats why i need to delete all configurations before making tazusb writefs command.

where can i find the all configuration details ( except /home/tux)

Re: tazusb - network card selection

@Gibor

thanks for your suggestion but its same. Actually i got based SliTaz-4.0-RC2-Xvesa.iso which u created.

* When i check the problem some of pc is showing network interface eth1 instead of eth0.

* I am pretty sure, there is no second lan or wireless.

* Also when i booted with slitaz4.iso on pc ( one of the problem one) network interface eth0 and there is a network. No problem. (Just tested in case)

* How system detect interface? any clue?

* How can i create vesa solution on slitaz 4? I guess u created on cookies.

Thank you

Re: tazusb - network card selection

I have more difficulty at speak on english, but try anyway lol

An some case the module cdc_ether from usb create one lan ethx, verify the command iwconfig if have detect another lan.

If you not have any another lan, the problem it create at boot from detect device, the function autorename provide if have file a content one ethx the autorenaming new on ethx+1

on this case,first choose verify and clear the file compressed on rootfs.gz

/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules

* How can i create vesa solution on slitaz 4? I guess u created on cookies.

I is not easy to explain how to do it, basically you need to replace the xorg server with Xvesa finally change the dependencies and startup settings.

Re: tazusb - network card selection

@Aleksej

you have also to clean /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistant-cd.rules

and in rolling two more - /etc/locale.conf + /etc/keymap.conf

So I would suggest to make the question simple - remove user settings or keep user settings  - the same is also necessary for tazlito....
