Detecting and setting audio drivers

Dear all,

Our installation and our application run comfortably on the SBC we have been dealing with since the very beginning. It uses and HDA Intel audio device.

Quite recently, our customer came to us claiming they have some older displays and that they wanted them also integrated into the system. To our surprise, everything works well... but the audio.

Even if we're sure all the AlsaMixer settings are properly set to their maximum, no sound comes out of the older SBC we have as a sample of what we have to deal with.

I have two questions: according to your experience, which is the best approach to (1) detect the audio device in the system and (2) apply the proper settings.

By issuing the command [c]lspci | grep Audio[/c] in the system which dose output sound, I get the following result:

[c]00:1B.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)[/c]

Provided that I can get the older SBC up and running, I'll issue the same command and will post the result here. As far as I know, on the other hand, it is using PCH7 audio.

Dear all,

Here's another test I did, following other posts I've read in this forum:

Command: [c]aplay -l[/c]

Result:

[c]**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC662 rev1 Analog [ALC662 rev1 Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0[/c]

slitaz is not using alsaconf - it was rewritten - soundconf - you can run it as root and select your sondcard

Hello,

(i m not an advanced user)

I installed Slitaz on a IBM T40 (256 MB RAM), and it runs so good.

But i have no sound.

I saw here http://www.linlap.com/ibm-lenovo_thinkpad_t40

that i have to use the snd-intel8x0 module.

I can see it when with

modprobe -l | grep snd-intel

But if i run soundconf (as root) it fails to detect a sound card.

Also  lspci | grep Audio does not return nothing

and aplay -l return no sound card found

Is there any easy solution to set my soundcard.
