Slitaz-Like OS For PowerPC Architechture?

So I'm a big fan of the lightweight, filesystem-in-ram idea of Slitaz when it comes to resurrecting older machines. However, when I inherited an old iMac G3, I was disappointed by the lack of a powerpc port of Slitaz or similar distro. Although I love Debian and am currently running that on my G3, it is quite sluggish when compared to Sitaz on such a dinosaur. So my question is whether there would be any interest in creating a low resource, from ram distro, either Slitaz or Debian PPC based, to breathe new life into the older macs out there. It's a shame how fast they're going to the landfills and it seems that a distro like Slitaz could well be the solution. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Re: Slitaz-Like OS For PowerPC Architechture?

I did read up on all the distros that have been ported to PowerPC, but as I pointed out, there are no lightweight,  live systems available that run from ram, similar to Slitaz. Debian seems to be the best option currently, but is quite heavy for a G3. Thats why I was thinking of making a stripped down version of the Debian PPC that would run from ram, and maybe if there's some interest, leave it for others to use on older macs. I was just wondering if it would be a better option if me and/or others were to build an actual PPC port of Slitaz? Theres a lot of G3s out there going to the landfills each day, while they are really cool machines!

It's possible, but will require the building of a PPC package repository. Both will require somebody with the hardware to build, test and maintain them.

If you can find a developer to do all that, then I'll try and give you guys a ppc port of SliTaz to build off of using Buildroot.
