Hi I am keen to build my own Slitaz from scratch using instructions from:
http://doc.slitaz.org/en:scratchbook:base-system?s[]=mkdir
I see that this is using an older version of the linux Kernel. My question is can I use the latest kernel version 3.11.7 and build everything with this?
Or must I use the stated version of 2.6.20?
Thanks

you can use whatever kernel you want ...
but perhaps its easier to see first the wok tutorials:

thanks for reply. I see those documents rely on building it on the slitaz os and using its cooking tools.
I wish to build it all from scratch on my Ubuntu linux.
For example I see that the slitaz-tools-1.0 folder contains a linux-2.6.20-slitaz.config file that is used to select the config options for building the kernel.
I looked for such a file in the later slitaz-tools-5.1 folder but I couldn't see a corresponding file.
WHat changes do I have to make to build Slitaz with the latest kernel (And without using the slitaz cooking tools).

You may want to get a newer copy of the tools. Check out http://mirror.slitaz.org/sources/tools/ to grab the lastest copy.

I have downloaded these but it doesn't contain a config file for building the kernel.
How do I use these newer tools? I'm new to building linux so apologies.

Where is the .config file located in the slitaz-test-3.2.50-04092013.iso from the above link?
