Re: Cant find HHD

Hi Daniel1989

If you use Slitaz 4.0 stable, then open PCMan File Manager.you should see than

the HD-Partitions, Files and Folders.Copy them wherever you like.

If you don't see any Partitions, open up a Terminal su to root and type

fdisk -l

(it's a lowercase L  ..bad font here)

do you see any Partitions?

Part2

If you see only Folders in the left pane of PCManFM,click on the "Places"-Button

in the lower left corner.

Re: Cant find HHD

Hello

In order to know if the kernel detect the disk type

$dmesg | grep hda

If the disk still works, just use pcmanfm as sixofeight said.

Happy Slitaz !

Re: Cant find HHD

dude i am facing similar problem mine is

I am using an HP a1530N computer with a Lakeport Leucite P5LP-LE motherboard. I am trying to load a fresh copy of Windows XP on to a brand new (formatted) Western Digital 1.0 TB (WD10EADS) hard drive.

When windows gets to the point of asking where I want windows loaded, there are no options. It does not recognize the hard drive.

I have also tried another Western Digital 250 gig hard drive (WD2500JS) with the same result.

During either hard drive installation, it is the only hard drive on the computer.

@teginder81

you know that this is a linux forum, no?..

rant-mode-off

afaik old win xp does not recognize sata-hdds without loading extra Drivers.

This drivers should be on the Mb-CD.

Another solution is to select IDE- (legacy) Mode for your Hdd in Bios.

Re: Cant find HHD

Re the OP, if the drive has crashed, it could be the electrics, which can be changed, but is not a guarantee that the disc platters of the drive itself are not damaged.

Unfortunate, but that is why having backups of your data is so neccessary.
