Hello people,
Have searched the forum and the web to find an answer to a very simple problem, namely how to install the application "TV-MAXE" ( http://code.google.com/p/tv-maxe/ ) on SliTaz 4.x 32-bits without success; I would like to make someone on a very very low budget happy by providing that someone with a complete old PC or an old laptop with SliTaz installed on it due to extreme fast response of Slitaz on afore mentioned systems. The problem is that the person in question would want to watch some streaming tv from country of origin. TV-MAXE happens to provide this option completely for free. I am a linux newbie and have not yet figured out how to install TV-MAXE on SliTaz distro. Ubuntu and derivatives do have TV-MAXE in the repositories but none of the Ubuntu flavors seem to run properly on the old systems. Some other flavors of linux distro which also support TV-MAXE do not perform at all or I am not even able to install the distro.
what have i done so far?
i have searched the web and this very forum for possible solutions; found actually that I should be able to download an alien package and convert this alien package in order to install. If the information is correct I should be able to convert amongst others .rpm
I have downloaded 3 package versions from the following link ( http://mrb.mandrivausers.ro/MRB/2012LTS/i686/MRB-rpms ) and tried to convert this package one by one with Tazpkg without success. I have just followed the instructions for convert option in this way both as root and tux user.
tazpkg convert alienpackagename.rpm
The conversion doesn't throw up any messages with any of the tried packages, but install fails as some/all files are missing in a directory which are supposed to be copied during install process as far as i could tell from the message I saw on the screen... browsing to that specific directory showed a complete empty directory, so the conversion was not successful after all is my guess.
I did not make any screenshots as it seemed to obvious what was going wrong, if needed I could make screenshots and post these here.
Any help would be very appreciated.

Hello Bellard, thank you for your quick response. I have downloaded and installed the provided freetuxtv package.
as there is no entry on the desktop nor the menu for running freetuxtv, I have run the application via a xterm from /usr/bin
the output is as quoted below.

i did find libffi, the content of the package does not contain the referenced file quoted in the error message, however the version available is libffi.so.5

Thank you for all your effort.
I installed the application for testing purposes first in a VirtualBox slitaz virtual machine then on both of the old PC and Laptop. The rest of info which I am about to provide is tested on all three systems.
Added the channels of various countries (French, English, Italian Dutch, German etc. etc) just to see if there were any issues. While adding the channels not all preconfigured WEB TV and Web Radio station lists could be added, some produced some errors and some produced time outs and some others were added OK.
I do have a (100Mbps Upload and Download) solid, stable and fast internet connection based on fiber here in the Netherlands where I am located. The PC I have used for the VirtualBox is quite powerful; download speeds are very pleasing and consistent around 12MBps. The old PC and Laptop are fitted both with 10/100Mb/s Network cards, and I also tested these with wifi USB sticks (802.11a/b/g) even with these "old" wifi devices the download speeds are consistently between 1,5 and 4 MB/s which is very OK IMHO.
I tried to watch some of the channels; what I noticed was, that not all channel icons are updated, majority of the channels have empty channel icons with the same text next to the icon "inconnu" and many icons are empty icons but do have the names of the channels next to them displayed correctly. There were not many channels I could watch for testing anyway; while trying to watch a channel a message is displayed, i.e.:

While using the powerful PC on which I also installed an Ubuntu distro in VirtualBox environment; i used both the freetuxtv and the TV_MAXE applications and compared the test results, where as in TV-MAXE the majority of the channels listed are working almost flawlessly in freetuxtv these channels are not to be viewed at all.
I do have a router with UTM firewall etc. within my infrastructure so checked and verified what ports are required for both applications to work properly. Turned out that no changes were necessary on the firewall, freetuxtv does not require any specific ports to be opened on the firewall side. Just to be on the safe side, i did connect the old laptop directly to my ISP's modem bypassing my infrastructure the results were the same.
This was the main reason I was so keen on installing TV-Maxe as it works really well without knowing the inner workings of both TV-Maxe and FreetuxTV.
So the next logical step was to see if creating a new channel group in freetuxtv using the http details of some well working channels in TV-Maxe. Unfortunately none of the channels was not to be viewed again freetuxtv informing me either a timeout had occurred or the channel was dead. This test I tried both within my infrastructure and directly connected to ISP modem...
to be honest I am kind of disappointed with this freetuxtv.
