Card is integrated Intel 1000 wifi - network is unencrypted.
Wlan0 seems to be unavailable - only eth0 appears.

PS: wifi works with Linux Mint, Bohdi Linux, etc.

Open xterminal:
Post the output from these commands in your reply.
Thanks for the reply.
As xterminal doesn't seem to have a copy function - how do I get the output copied to a text file?
Highlight the command output on xterm.
Click on the Reply window to paste info into with 3rd mouse button built into mouse wheel.
On a laptop or 2 button mouse without a wheel click left/right buttons at the same time.
Install sakura terminal run commands, highlight and right click choose copy.
Paste into Reply.
I don't have internet access via slitaz ... I just want to copy the output to a text file then use win7 to reply!
I'm using the latest cooking version
The adapter is Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN
Should it be this difficult???!!!
In the absence of any constructive advice, I'm afraid this is another distro which just doesn't come up to scratch. failure to enable wifi connections from startup is a classic symptom of a poorly implemented distro in 2011!! Byeeee!
Lol. I don't know how you expect to get anything done without some patience. And I especially don't know how you think you can do anything without an internet connection. Maybe you should invest in an ethernet cord.
I don't have easy access to the router to plug in a cable. In any event, this is the first distro I've tried for many months which can't easily enable wifi out-of-the-box. I just can't be bothered futzing around with a poorly implmented terminal where you can't cut and paste.
It should be easy to set up wifi - that's a basic requirement for a modern distro. That's my opinion, for what it's worth.
You come along to complain, bitch and demand, yet it's us that's not being constructive enough for your taste... You do know you don't pay a cent for any of this and most of these people do it out of the kindness of their heart. You have no right to act like some 5 year old in a candy store just because your not getting your way.
Yes, I know I'm being unhelpful, but if you want a distro that works out-of-the-box (including Wi-fi) and spoon feeds everything for you then try Linux Mint or PCLinuxOS. If you want something that's light, fast and powerful without any bulk, but MAY require you to actually figure things out, then use SliTaz.
Thanks for the usual linux geek friendly response. I'll stick with Mint - I just asked a question and got led into xterminal hell, and now I get abuse. It's people like you who give linux a bad name.
