I am using Slitaz 5 386 on an old Panasonic tough book. I’ve not used it for some time but thought I’d give it run today. Updated it (100+ updates)
Now when I click a desktop icon to launch any program I get this displayed....
‘The text file (for example LibreOffice Wrtiter) seems to be an executable trip. What do you want to do with it.’
Execute. Execute in terminal. Open. Cancel.
If I execute it launches as normal.
How can I just open them without the diolog box please.
Thanks

It's not a bug, it's a feature.
libfm has been changed some versions past to regard desktop files as executables.
To avoid the question, a setting in pcmanfm can be changed, but then no question is asked even for "real" executables.
For my private use, I modified fm-file-info.c from the source package of libfm to restore the old behavior not to regard desktop files as executables.Posted 5 years ago # -
Thanks HGT. Not really a problem. Only takes a moment to get past the text. I think I’ll live with it.

Downgrade to lxpanel-0.6.2 and block it from upgrading is how I've eliminated this annoyance.

@terrybull
My problem started over 5 months ago when lxpanel was updated to lxpanel-0.10.0
I re-installed lxpanel-0.10.0 and rebooted to re-verify this solved the issue on my computer.
The File Execute dialog appears if I click the icons to start programs or logout button in either of the two "Application Launch Bar" applets I have installed in lxpanel.
However starting programs or clicking logout from the menu applet or shortcuts I've added to the desktop from the menu launch the program normally without the File Execute dialog.
I re-installed lxpanel-0.6.2, reboot and the problem goes away again on my system.
I'm out of suggestions for now if the lxpanel downgrade doesn't remove the annoyance of the file execute dialog appearing when clicking on a shortcut to start a program.Posted 5 years ago # -
Thanks mojo.
Initially I did a forced installation of lxpanel-0.6.2 over the recently updated one and the issue remained. I also uninstalled and reinstalled 0.6.2 just in case forced wasn’t the best option but the issue is exactly the same.
I have changed the setting in Pcman which stops the dialog popping up which was really annoying. If anyone has any other suggestions I’d be glad to hear them.
Ps. I’m using x386 on this ancient system. Would x64 make a difference if you’re using that?Posted 5 years ago #
